D.C. Marcial is the writer and director of DARKMATTER. His first short, Consciousness, was an official selection of The 9th Annual London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film. His next film, The God Phone, was recently awarded the prestigious Panavision New Filmmakers Grant.
As an editor, Dean has worked on many commercials as well as several music videos for Circa Survive, Mayday Parade, Phil Collins, and Sting through Borderline Films (Afterschool, Two Gates of Sleep). In addition to four more short films, he is currently editing two feature documentaries: Retirement Rumble (which he co-directed with photographer K.R. Newberry), and Noble Country, directed by photographer Anthony Blasko and produced by Zac Stuart-Pontier, (editor, Catfish - Sundance '10, and NY Export: Opus Jazz - SXSW '10).
Dana Ashbrook’s breakthrough into pop-culture awareness was with his intense portrayal of Laura Palmer’s hot-tempered, longhaired boyfriend Bobby Briggs in the legendary TV series “Twin Peaks” and movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, which The Washington Post termed a “cogitation on the intersection of Heaven, Hell, and Washington State.” The definitive Gold Box DVD of “Twin Peaks” recently was released, and a David Lynch album of musical collaborations from the movie came out in 2009.
The San Diego, California-born actor earned his SAG card on “Cagney & Lacey” and has appeared in numerous TV series, including “The Outer Limits,” “Crisis Center,” “Charmed,” and “Deadwood.” He had a recurring starring role in “Dawson’s Creek” as the greedy stockbroker Rich Rinaldi, and was a series regular on “The Kill Point” as womanizer Tony. Most recently, Ashbrook appeared on Starz in season two of the “Crash” TV series, portraying the charismatic gambler and drug addict, Jimmy.
On the big screen, Ashbrook has starred in She’s Out of Control, Ghost Dad, Comfortably Numb, Interstate 5, and Angels Don’t Sleep Here. Ashbrook currently resides in New York City.
Dean Marcial, Brett Potter, and Grant Curatola started Calavera in 2008 out of NYU's Kanbar Institute of Film. Darkmatter is one of many projects they are currently developing.
